Quinta da Regaleira - Sintra - Cultural Tour

Come and visit the scenery and representation of the initiatic voyage in the symbolic garden of Quinta da Regaleira, one of the most surprising and enigmatic monuments of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra.

Continuing our voyage along the elegant path that connected Paço Real to Seteais, in the border of the village's historical center, we find the walls and the Quinta da Regaleira's Palace.
This estate exists since the 17th century, its most recent history dates back to 1904-1910 in the monarchy’s last period; the romantic estate formerly owned by Viscountess of Regaleira was bought and enlarged by Dr. António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, in order to create his favourite spot. Owner of a fabulous fortune, which granted him the nickname of “Monteiro dos Milhões” (Million’s Monteiro), he has associated his unique project of architecture and landscape with the creative genius of the Italian architect and scenographer Luigi Manini, as well as the expertise of the sculptors and stonemasons that had worked with him at the Hotel do Buçaco's Palace.

With these sceneries the representation of an initiatic voyage materialises, through a symbolic garden where we can feel the Spheres Harmony. In the garden we catch a glimpse of the mythology, of Olympus, of Virgilio, of Dante, of Camões, of the Templar mission of the Order of Christ, of great mystics, of the enigmas of Royal Art, of the Alchemistic Master Work. In this Symphony of stone the poetic and prophetic dimension of a Portuguese Philosophical House is unveiled. Here Heaven and Earth are merged together in a sensitive reality, the same which presided over the theory of the Beautiful, of Architecture and of Music.
