The Galician city of Santiago de Compostela is one of the most significant places of pilgrimage of Christianity, since the 9th century. What distinguishes Compostela from other important holy places of Christianity, namely Rome and Jerusalem, is the fact that their pilgrimages have set paths, religiously trodden, for some time immemorial, by successive generations of faithful, from the various Spanish regions, but also from France, Portugal and, by sea, from the most diverse European countries. However, Santiago de Compostela is a very lively city with many other reasons to delight the traveler, whether pilgrim or not: numerous restaurants and bars where you can taste the delicious seafood of Galicia, a historic center declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, proposals of contemporary art.
