Description
Our tour starts visiting Basilica Santa Maria degli angeli, national church of Italy.
Michelangelo worked in this basilica. Visit Santa Maria della Vittoria where is the superb "Ecstasy of Santa Teresa", statue of G.L.Bernini.
We arrive to Sallustio garden, belonged once to Cesar and after property of emperors as Vespasiano or Adrian.
We continue to piazza Fiume, where we’ll admire the Aurelian walls of 3rd century (19 km still in use) and we discover a "restroom" of a sentinel.
Lunch time in a typical restaurant of Rome. After lunch, a very good gelato and we are ready to see Porta Pia, last project of Michelangelo.
We take now a subway to Ostia Antica.
Ostia antica was founded in the 4 century B.C. as a military camp.
Business men, freedmen and foreigners were living here where we still have a theatre (still in use today), baths, mithraeas, temples, houses with mosaic. Subway back to Rome.
