Flavors of the Atlantic : 2-day circuit

This is one sensational experience into the region of the Oeste, another underrated area and still quite unknown from the public in general. In the first day we drive to Peniche, a fishing harbour but also a surf haven, hosting the MEO Rip Curl of the World Surf League (WSL) at the Supertubos beach.

From Peniche we start by taking a boat ride to the Berlengas islands, a natural reserve 10 km away from mainland. When we reach the main island, you may choose between a a glass-bottom boat tour around the island to see the famous caves or snorkelling in crystal blue and green waters (both activities not included). After the visit to Berlengas, we return to Peniche for a sightseeing before heading to the location where we will be spending the night*.

On the second day we go to Sintra village center for our first tasting: a ‘travesseiro’. From Sintra we go to Colares, just 8 km away, for a wine tasting at the Adega Regional de Colares. It’s the oldest wine cooperative in the country (founded in 1931) and it gathers more than 50% of the total production. It also plays an important role in the local economy.

After lunch, we cross the Sintra mountains all the way to the coastline and have a scenic drive along the dramatic village of Azenhas do Mar, and the and beach & surf destination of Guincho. We will also have the opportunity of observing some local shellfish nurseries.

Before heading back to Lisbon, we have one more stop, in the Cascais bay area. Time for one final tasting and wander around this quaint little village.
