Description
Fonte Benémola is a protected area since 1991 and is located in a green valley full of animal and plant life. It is the home of over 100 different species of birds that live, reproduce and migrate to its banks. The bird activity can be seen throughout the whole trail and plant life is abundant with over 300 species that are so diversified that the trail seems to pass through various natural regions of the Algarve. It is also possible to see many species of water snakes swimming in the stream searching for small fish and as well as tortoises sunbathing on the stream’s banks.

- Difficulty: Low, not advisable for people with locomotive difficulties (it is necessary to cross a stream using stepping stones).
