Sete Cidades - Half Day

In this half-day tour through the Sete Cidades, we will take you to know and explore unforgettable places, such as the Empadadas Lagoon, the Lagoa do Canário, the viewpoints of Vista do Rei and Escalvado among others. The Sete Cidades is a small parish that belongs to the municipality of Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel Açores, located inside the caldera of the volcano and being part of the largest volcanic complex with the largest number of lagoons on the island of São Miguel.
Sete Cidades is also the name of the largest fresh water lake on the island, where, from various points it is possible to see the different shades of the water of the same lagoon, being possible to see the blue and the green of the lagoon, being considered as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal.

On this Half Day to Sete Cidades we will do the pick up in your Hotel/Accommodation, we will go towards the top of the Sete Cidades, during our journey you will be enchanted by a unique and magnificent nature along our different stops, between which, in the viewpoint of the Pico do Carvão, where we can see the north and south coast of the island of São Miguel, as well as enumerate meadows with their cattle to graze freely.

Then it is time to visit and explore some smaller lagoons, especially the lagoons of Empadadas, Canário and Santiago.

One of the most interesting sights of our tour is the viewpoint of Vista do Rei, where it is possible to see in a panoramic and stunning way the famous Sete Cidades lake, being the best place to see the two colors (Blue and Green) .

After having enjoyed the breathtaking view on the viewpoint of Vista do Rei (King’s View), it’s time to go to know a little of the center of the Sete Cidades parish and the daily life of the local population, where we can take advantage of a short break before moving to another lookout point.

One of the highlights of our tour is the stop at the Escalvado Viewpoint, it is a viewpoint facing the sea, where it is possible to see a small town Mosteiros and the islets that are known with the same name of the locality Mosteiros, as well as see the Ferraria tip, very frequented in the summer by local’s and tourists due to its hot springs.

Finally, on the way back to Ponta Delgada to your hotel/Accommodation or other place, we will still have availability for one more stop at one of the belvederes along the road, where we will have different perspective of the south coast of São Miguel Island.
